Self-portrait

From the famous Holsten Gate to the street „Engelsgrube“… from St. Mary’s to the Seamen’s Association…

Amusing – charming – informative – this is how more than 60 city guides from our Association “Lübecker Stadtführer e.V.” will introduce you to our city of Lübeck – the queen of the Hanseatic League!

Our guided tours have a number of special subject ranges which we offer in 17 languages: German, Chinese, Danish, English, Finnish, French, Dutch, Italian, Japanese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Spanish , Czech and “Plattdeutsch” (Low German). We have many native speakers in our Association and they help us create a very international athmosphere.

We also offer trips into Lübeck’s beautiful surrounding – for example to the “Holsteinische Schweiz” (Holstein Switzerland), the island of Fehmarn, to Hamburg and to our magnificent neighbouring federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

The City Guides Association “Lübecker Stadtführer e.V.” was founded in April 1987 by a number of experienced city guides. Nowadays it may be called a well-working network with its more than 60 members and their detailed knowledge on a wide range of special subjects. The “Lübecker Stadtführer e.V.” applied for a membership in the BVGD e.V. (German National Tourist Guide Association) and thus also became a member of the European and Worldwide Tourist Guide Association. Our training and qualification guidelines follow the directives of the BVGD and are thus internationally recognized.

‘A guide never stops learning’ – in order to keep our high standards the Association organizes advanced training such as lectures in museums and other cultural attractions, excursions etc.

On the International Tourist Guide Day (which is being held under a different motto every year) the city guides offer tours on special subjects free of charge.

Of course our Association feels connected to the city of Lübeck and its sights – and thus we donate for Lübeck’s cultural attractions and objects under renovation on a regular basis.

Join us on a trip into Lübeck’s exciting history – join us for a guided tour! Hope to see you soon!
